This is an absolutely by the number buddy action movie that is only slightly elevated by the presence of Dave Bautista and Jason Mamoa, both of whom are far better than this material. Bautista in particular seems to have gotten all the 'I am an acTOR, actually' stuff out of his system with his excellent work in Blade Runner 2049 and Knock on the Cabin Door and realised he can make bank by just doing... well, this.
Momoa and Bautista play estranged brothers - an ex cop and a Navy Seal, respectively - who learn that their equally estranged father has been killed in a hit and run which is clearly more that it seems. With the help of Ned from Spider-Man they work out that he was killed by Yakuza working for Claes Bang's evil (and, oddly, English) property developer and embark on a series of high-profile shoot-outs and car accidents that should by rights see them both jailed for the rest of their natural lives but, thanks to action movie logic, are completely ignored by the authorities. Barely an inconvenience.
Jacob Batalan, Stephen Root, Frankie Adams (you know, from The Expanse) and Temuera Morrison provide decent support, as does Morena Baccarin although something about her performance suggests she is only doing the job because she lost a bet.
The fights are kinetic and crunchy, the stunts are a bit CGI and the quips are frankly interminable despite the two lead's natural charm. You have seen this film a 100 times already but this iteration is a solid 'ok' if you want something undemanding on a Friday night.
