Matt Damon & Ben Affleck team up again to play narcotics cops who have recently lost one of their team to murder.
Team leader Damon gets a tip off about a possible 'rip' (a seizure of money from a stash house) and the team descend upon the property to find a single occupant and way, way more money than the tip-off suggested. A tense few hours follows where the cops seem unsure if they are going to hand the cash in, various third parties show an interest and bullets start flying.
Damon is decent as the head of the team, who keeps his motivation very close to his chest and Affleck plays a standard wild card character who might just be furious about the death of a colleague/girlfriend but might also be planning to get paid for his trouble. Steven Yuen, Tayana Taylor and Kyle Chandler round out the cast.
Sadly, the plot goes through the motions of tension but the twist is very guessable early on if you listen to how one character speaks to the others and the film follows the Netflix guidelines of spelling everything out for the hard of thinking.
The film never feels like it has kicked into gear until the very end and even then one antagonist just... gives up. A sensible choice in the circumstances but not the stuff of an action drama.
